Research and Teaching Applications
The Geography and Planning Applications site contains on-line applications related to faculty research and teaching interests. It also serves web mapping applications. A new departmental server has facilitated these applications.
The Weather Page link provides information related to meteorology and climatology courses. A weather station is location on the rooftop of the Classroom Building which sends real-time weather data to a web site. These data are used in Meteorology and Climatology courses taught by Dr. Stephen Vermette.
Middle States Geographer
The Middle States Geographer Journal is the Journal of the Middle States Division of the Association of the American Geographers. The Middle States Division is a regional division of the national association (AAG) that promotes the advancement of professional studies in geography and encourages the application of geographic research in business, education and government. Many of our majors attend the yearly conference and present research papers or posters.
New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA)
In Fall 2011, The Geography and Planning Department started a student chapter of NYWEA. NYWEA was founded in 1929, by professionals in the field of water quality as a non-profit, educational organization. Association members helped lead the way toward existing state and national clean water programs. Today the Association has over 2,500 members representing diverse backgrounds and specialties, but all are concerned and involved with protecting and enhancing our precious water resources.
The Buffalo State NYWEA Chapter was featured in a recent Clearwaters Article.
